Neanderthal Iconic Art and <\/strong>the Question of Language<\/strong><\/p>\n

The reported discovery of Neanderthal iconic art from the Nerja Caves near Malaga, Spain has been dated to 42,000 BP (years before present) through charcoal remains found directly adjacent to the paintings. This could have implications regarding the evolution of language in archaic hominids. The images might also represent the oldest known cave art in Europe. This article will examine the background for such claims and explore the implications of such indisputable evidence in the debate of modern human behaviour in Middle Palaeolithic Neanderthals.<\/p>\n

Skive\u00f8ksa <\/strong>– eit fleirfunksjonelt reiskap?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Skive\u00f8ksa er ein reiskap som ved sitt namn er funksjonsspesifikk. Namnet er eit resultat fr\u00e5 tidleg forsking og tolking p\u00e5 denne oldsaken. I seinare tid er funksjon og bruk av skive\u00f8kser breitt diskutert, spesielt i dansk og svensk forsking. Etter \u00e5 ha unders\u00f8kt omlag 190 vestnorske skive\u00f8kser er det mogleg \u00e5 trekke fram nokre konkrete bruks- og funksjonstolkingar fr\u00e5 dette materialet. Namnet skive\u00f8ks er noko misvisande, og denne artikkelen skal gjere greie for kvifor.<\/p>\n

Arkeologen som skreiv NS-propaganda. <\/strong>Ei fortrengd faghistorie?<\/strong><\/p>\n

H\u00e5kon Reiersen<\/p>\n

Det er tidlegare skrive ein del om den arkeologiske verksemda under krigen. S\u00e6rskild har ein fokusert p\u00e5 den heltemodige historia om Oldsaksamlingen som g\u00f8ymde bort oldsaker f\u00f8r krigens utbrot, og som slik hindra okkupasjonsmakta \u00e5 f\u00e5 hendene i gjenstandar som Snartemosverdet. Til same historie h\u00f8yrer ogs\u00e5 fengslinga av Br\u00f8gger og tvangsflyttinga av Shetelig til Oslo. N\u00e5r det gjeld den andre sida, har det ogs\u00e5 blitt skrive noko om fienden sine SS-arkeologar og om Nasjonal Samling (NS) sin bruk av historiske symbol i propaganda. Artikkelen tek for seg eit vanskelegare emne som det til no er skrive lite om – det at ogs\u00e5 ein norsk arkeolog aktivt kunne st\u00f8tte nasjonal-sosialistisk ideologi. Blant kullet som byrja \u00e5 studere arkeologi tidleg p\u00e5 1930-talet fanst det nemleg ein student som seinare kom til \u00e5 bli viktig i NS si produksjon av propaganda og s\u00f8k etter historisk legitimitet. Ein kan sp\u00f8rje seg kvifor hans historie ikkje tidligare har blitt fortald. Er det fordi det har vore ukjend for fagmilj\u00f8et, eller har dette rett og slett blitt fortrengd fr\u00e5 faget si historie?<\/p>\n
