Etter \u00e5 ha ligget i dvale i noen \u00e5r, har RISS f\u00e5tt ny redaksjon som skal st\u00e5 klare med et nytt nummer i begynnelsen av 2022. Derfor synes redaksjonen at \u201cgjenf\u00f8delse\u201d er et passende tema for v\u00e5rens nummer av RISS.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Forestillingen om \u201cgjenf\u00f8delse\u201d handler om noe eller noen som blir f\u00f8dt p\u00e5 ny. En bred forst\u00e5else av begrepet kan omfatte en forandring i form, en forvandling eller en overgang fra ett stadium til et annet. Gjenf\u00f8delse og gjenskapelse har v\u00e6rt aspekter ved livet som mennesker har latt seg prege og inspirere av, til alle tider. Derfor studerer arkeologer ofte fenomener, gjenstander og handlinger som er resultat av gjenf\u00f8delse, b\u00e5de fysisk og \u00e5ndelig, sosialt og politisk, \u00f8konomisk og teknologisk. For eksempel kan produksjon av steinredskaper, keramikk eller metaller tolkes som en prosess der r\u00e5materiale blir gjenf\u00f8dt som ferdige gjenstander. Arkeologi som omhandler religion, mytologi og livssyn dreier seg ofte om gjenf\u00f8delse i en eller annen forstand. Det gj\u00f8r ogs\u00e5 studiet av forhistoriske og historiske maktstrukturer og politiske system, ettersom makt ofte legitimeres b\u00e5de p\u00e5 bakgrunn av og p\u00e5 tvers av ideer som blir tatt i bruk p\u00e5 ny. Sist, men ikke minst, kan arkeologi i seg selv beskrives som en vitenskap som mer enn noe annet er sentrert rundt gjenf\u00f8delse. N\u00e5r en gjenstand eller bygning blir (gjen)oppdaget og tatt ut av jorda og ser dagens lys for f\u00f8rste gang p\u00e5 hundrevis eller tusenvis av \u00e5r, blir den p\u00e5 sett og vis gjenf\u00f8dt; den innehar sin egen historie fra da den var i bruk, men f\u00e5r en ny betydning som forskningsobjekt.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">En slik bred forst\u00e5else av gjenf\u00f8delse i arkeologien \u00f8nsker vi \u00e5 utforske i neste nummer av RISS. Bidrag fra alle tidsperioder, steder i verden og forskningsomr\u00e5der er velkomne. Vi tar imot fagartikler, essays, bearbeidede oppgaver, illustrasjoner, bok- og filmanmeldelser og skj\u00f8nnlitter\u00e6re tekster. Om du \u00f8nsker \u00e5 bidra i neste nummer av RISS, send oss ditt bidrag innen <\/span><b>1. desember<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> til <\/span><a href=\"mailto:rissred@gmail.com\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">rissred@gmail.com<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. <\/span>[:en]<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">We have just restarted RISS \u2013 an archaeological journal, run by archeology students at the University of Bergen, Norway.\u00a0We would very much like you to contribute to our next edition, which is due to be published in January 2022! Since RISS has been basically dead for some years, we, the new editorial staff, like to think of ourselves as the rebirth of RISS.\u00a0Therefore, our theme for the next edition of RISS is \u00abrebirth\u00bb!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The concept of\u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">rebirth\u00a0<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">is about something being born anew. A broad understanding of the term can encompass a change in form, a transformation or a transition from one stage to another. Rebirth and recreation are aspects of life that have influenced and inspired people throughout the ages. Therefore, archaeologists often study phenomena, objects and actions as results of, or in light of, rebirth. For example, the production of stone tools, ceramics and metal objects can be interpreted as processes where raw materials are born again as finished objects. Similarly, the study of prehistoric and historic power structures and political systems can also be studied as acts of rebirth, in that power is often transferred on the basis of ideas being brought back from past times. Last, but not least, archaeology in itself can be described as a science based around the notion of rebirth. When an object or a building is being (re)discovered or taken out of the ground, it is in a way reborn; it has its own history from when it was in use, and it is given a new significance as an object of research.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In the next edition of RISS we would like to explore this broad understanding of rebirth in archaeology.\u00a0Contributions from all time periods, places in the world and research areas are welcome. We would like to have articles about all manners of things archaeological, both research and fieldwork.
